Why you should start fighting wrinkles in your 20s

Say no to early signs of ageing

We know your twenties are often all about partying, staying up late and having a sharing bag of crisps for dinner (for one). Wrinkles probably seem like something way-into-the-future that you have to worry about. But that’s not the case! Protecting your skin from signs of ageing and wrinkles should start as early as possible to give you the best chance of smooth and supple skin when you’re older.

So, what are the best ways to look after your skin in your twenties? We have some great tips that won’t break the bank, or interfere with your partying ways (well, not too much). First of all, what products are best for younger skin? Luckily, No7 has a range of anti-ageing products designed specifically for 20-35 year olds.

Making small changes to your skincare routine

Using anti-ageing products as part of our regular skin routine is one of the best ways to protect skin from wrinkles. But we appreciate that adding more steps to your skincare routine on hectic mornings is a chore. So, instead of applying your usual day moisturiser and SPF sunscreen, why not try No7 Early Defence Day Cream? You’ll get two products in one: it’s hydrating and has an SPF 15 and 5* UVA technology for sunscreen protection, along with lipopeptides and vitamin A that help to reduce the first appearance of lines. At night, try the No7 Early Defence Night Cream with Double Defence technology to hydrate and protect your skin while you sleep.

Don’t forget your eyes

The skin under your eyes is very thin and delicate, and one of the first places we notice fine lines forming. Always use the lightest touch on this area, even when creating that stunning smokey eye look, as rubbing your eyes vigorously can cause wrinkles.

Fortunately, there are really simple ways you can protect your eyes, such as wearing your sunglasses so you don’t keep squinting. When applying your eye make-up, pat foundation or concealer on gently rather than rubbing, as this can cause some harm without you realising.

You can also use an eye cream like the No7 Early Defence Eye Cream for under-eye skin. It contains vitamin C to reduce puffiness and the appearance of dark circles, and vitamin A to reduce the first appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Be aware of the sun

Fun in the sun is great, but only when you’re protected. UV rays can cause real damage to our skin and premature ageing – but it’s simple to protect your skin from the sun. Always wear sunscreen when you’re outside (make sure you reapply regularly), avoid the sun when it’s at its hottest (between 11am-3pm), and wear light, long sleeved clothing, topped off with your favourite wide-brimmed floppy hat. Remember to still use a hair serum, especially if your hair is processed or colour-treated.

Along with your appropriate SPF sun cream, you can also generously apply the No7 Anti-Ageing Sun Protection Spray from the No7 suncare range before heading out into the sun. This will help to protect your skin and prevent early signs ageing.  So, as you’ve read, it’s much easier than you might think to protect your skin from ageing. A few small changes to your skincare routine will mean that you can rest easy at night, knowing that those fine lines and wrinkles are years away.

And don’t forget to drink lots of water!
